Anduril Industries is in discussions to raise up to $2.5 billion in a new funding round, potentially doubling its valuation to $28 billion.
This round is expected to be led by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, which may contribute $1 billion—the largest single investment in the firm's history.
The substantial capital infusion is intended to support Anduril's ambitious expansion plans, including the construction of a large-scale weapons manufacturing facility in Ohio, known as Arsenal-1. This 5 million-square-foot factory aims to produce tens of thousands of autonomous weapons systems annually, leveraging AI-powered manufacturing processes to enhance scalability and efficiency.
In June 2023, the company acquired rocket engine manufacturer Adranos, gaining access to advanced solid rocket motor technology for missiles and space launch applications. In September 2023, Anduril acquired Blue Force Technologies, a North Carolina-based developer of autonomous aircraft, bolstering its portfolio in unmanned aerial systems.
Anduril is part of a growing wave of private defense technology companies reaching billion-dollar valuations. Over the last three years, a number of firms in the defense and aerospace sectors have secured significant funding, reflecting a realignment in the military industrial complex.
