Alion Science and Technology is seeking a Senior Analyst to provide business operations support, market and technology analysis, and investment project support. The Portfolio Analyst will assist the Director of National Security Innovation Capital (NSIC) in developing and maintaining strong connections within Department of Defense (DOD) and across other US Government Agencies, technology incubators, technology start-ups, and private investment organizations. The successful Senior Analyst will be adept at assessing a wide range of technologies and will possess sound judgement, an analytical mindset, strong collaboration skills, a pragmatic approach to problem solving, and the ability to thrive in an oftentimes ambiguous, entrepreneurial environment. This position is based in Mountain View, CA.
Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a set of processes for NSIC to manage its ideal flow. Become the NSIC expert in Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Adept, Google Suite, and other collaboration and data tools.
Develop and manage overall portfolio performance metrics and analytics.
Develop and maintain an overview of NSIC’s technology priorities, in-process projects, and portfolio companies.
Develop and maintain connections with selected incubators, venture firms, industry experts, and USG subject matter experts.
Develop briefing materials for diverse audiences on ongoing NSIC projects and issues as needed.
Work with various DIU departments to develop material for intra/inter agency meetings as well as external audiences.
Conduct market research and assist in the development of investment theses for each priority area.
Build financial models to assess investment decisions.
Assist in program management of specific funding projects.
Respond to official requests for information and other tasks from government partners and stakeholders.
Participate in key intra/inter agency meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Research, Math and 8 plus years experience.
We will consider candidates with 12 plus years experience in lieu of a degree.
3 years of relevant work experience in a financial analyst or management consulting associate role.
Proficient computer skills: Excel, Google Suite, Salesforce CRM, Adept, or equivalents.
US Citizenship and a current DOD Clearance, preferably a Top Secret (TS) clearance.
Areas Highly Desired:
MBA
Product development experience as an engineer in a technology startup
Military experience
Active TS/SCI clearance
Experience working with Federal/DoD agencies and Congressional staff
Security Clearance: Top Secret
