A little bit about Natasha…
Natasha Ahmed is an economist and strategy consultant with a passion for innovation and national security. As a failed entrepreneur of a govx-focused blockchain start-up, she intimately understands the challenge of building tech for the greater good. She is currently back from an 18-month sabbatical in Hong Kong where she advised executives on the U.S. ecosystem and helped startups navigate market entry in Southeast Asia with the Hong Kong University Law Lite Lab. She spent her free time appreciating the deep culture within China; studying Mandarin, absorbing Hong Kong's history, and observing the changing tides within Asia’s world city.
With a diverse background in policy and consulting from many perspectives across D.C., Natasha returns to the U.S. with an urgency to materialize her experience abroad. She would like to leverage her knowledge of government institutions, her perspective on tech innovation in Asia, and ultimately create tangible lessons for policy makers and leadership in Washington, D.C.
Prior to Hong Kong, Natasha was a principal consultant to the VA, where she was responsible for leading several teams and advising leadership on a breadth of technology and policy issues. She worked on a variety of topics, from cybersecurity and technical operations, to oversight responses and external agency inquiries, to leading a key tiger team focused on DoD and VA interoperability. Before her career in consulting, she was a policy and communications specialist at the Council on Foundations and her career started in government affairs for Toyota Motor North America. She received her Master of Science (M.S.) in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University with a specialization in Macroeconomics. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Texas at Austin in Corporate Communications, with a minor in Arabic. Though she currently resides in Washington, D.C with her husband and son, she will always be a Texan at heart.
